Visit of the Nobel Prize Laureate

Prof. Daniel Shechtman , the Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry 2011 for the discovery of quasicrystals, visited the Institute of Physics on April 19, 2013.

Prof. Daniel Shechtman , the Nobel Prize Laureate in Chemistry 2011 for the discovery of quasicrystals, visited the Institute of Physics on April 19, 2013. Daniel Shechtman is the Professor of Materials Science at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and the Professor of Materials Science at Iowa State University.

Scientists of the Laboratory for the Physics of Transport Phenomena of the Institute of Physics (Ana Smontara, Jovica Ivkov, Petar Popčević, and Kristijan Velebit) and collaborators ( Ante Bilušić, Željko Bihar and Denis Stanić ) have, for a number of years, investigated the physical properties of quasi-periodic materials that were the object of the discovery which resulted in the Nobel Prize.
